Streaming or download: what the difference actually means

The choice sounds technical and is mostly practical. Here is what each one costs you in real terms.

What streaming gives you

Nothing is stored locally. You can pick up on a phone what you started on a desktop. Quality adapts
to the connection instead of failing outright on a weak one. And if your device is lost or replaced,
nothing is lost with it — the purchase lives with the account.

What a download gives you

Independence from the platform, and playback without a connection. That matters if you travel, or if
you simply want a copy that does not depend on anyone else staying in business. The cost is that the
file exists and you are now responsible for where it sits.

How to tell which you are getting

It is the performer’s decision, made per clip, and it is stated on the clip page. There is no
site-wide rule. If a download matters to you, check before buying — asking afterwards rarely changes
the answer.

Quality

Most current material is 1080p; older catalogue is often 720p, and some vertical clips are shot on a
phone at whatever the phone produced. Resolution is stated per clip. A high number is not automatically
better here: lighting and framing vary far more than pixel count does.

Playback problems, in order of likelihood

An ad blocker or strict privacy extension interfering with the player. A corporate or campus network
blocking the video host. A very old browser. In that order — it is almost never the clip.
